As to why tear it down, I just took off alot of the stuff like carb, seat, tank, chrome "valvecovers", etc... to make the masking a bit easier. The jug looks awesome- crinkled up really nice. I also (before I got your advice, WD) painted the carb, but I just did the float bowl- mine comes off pretty easy. I think if you disassemble it early on (which I did just to tinker...) it may prevent the screws from freezing up. Anyway, thanks for the advice. I think I'm going to try to move the controls forward some; I'll let you know what I come up with. This could possibly be a low-cost (and relatively easy to fabricate) way to get forward controls..... if we could come up with a kit that takes care of the shift and brake, we could possibly go into business. I tell you, WD, with my brains and your chopping.....
